Once upon a time, there was a greek artist named Dimitris Pantazis. I discovered his art last year during Inktober. I already wrote about him in my first article about Jake Parker‘s challenge, how I liked the way he played with mythological characters.
For Inktober 2018, Dimitris decided to illustrate fairy and folk tales with his so personal graphical style. Have look at his stunning artworks in this slideshow video (for a better viewing experience, click on full screen in the player).
Interview of Dimitris Pantazis
Can you tell us more about you, Dimitris?
I’m a physicist by training, but one who has done lots of stuff during the years, lots of different jobs. I now live on my illustrations only. I don’t see that changing in the future.
What drawing material and tools are you using?
I am using ink, of course, and watercolors mainly. Mostly, i’m using a Kolinsky brush and some watercolor pencils.
Which Inktober artists are you following?
I am following lots of artists : Jake Parker, Dani Diez, Eduardo Vieira just to name a few… It would take days to list them all 😉
Your inktober 2018 was rich of stories and tales, last year it was about mythological characters. Are you a born storyteller ?
I’ve been raised like that. Grandmother was a trove of stories. She was living in a village up in the north. A magical woman actually. Very logical and down to earth but still she believed in the power of stories. That’s my main influence I think as a kid.
So i am half creative, half theoretical brain, with a great affinity for practicality 😉
What are your plans for the future?
I will finish my comic book pages around May. I’m working another project but I can’t talk about right now. I plan to get a new artbook out, too :-).
